According to a notice issued Thursday (July 1) by FSIS, the current Russia beef certificate may be used until the new certificates are available. There is a delay in the availability of Russia pork certificates, but they will be ready for distribution on July 2. Exporters should check with their inspector to be sure an order has been placed for new certificates. - More

Both FSIS and Russia’s Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Service (VPSS) consider July 1, 2010, to be the issuance date, rather than a port arrival date, for the new certificate. Therefore, beginning July 1, the new certificate must be issued for all pork shipments to Russia. - More

U.S. Beef, Pork Showcased at St. Petersburg Exhibition

About 200 exhibitors took part in the 18th edition of Peterfood, which attracts meat buyers and other food industry professionals from western Russia and the nearby region. USMEF St. Petersburg Manager Yuri Barutkin distributes information on U.S. beef and pork at Peterfood 2009 “Peterfood is a good example of a regional trade show that allows us to share information about U.S. pork and beef with representatives from outside of this area’s large population centers,” said USMEF St. Petersburg Manager Yuri Barutkin. “This event reaches a very wide audience of potential customers from the region’s HR (hotel, restaurant and institutional), retail and meat processing sectors, and we were able to deliver valuable information about the advantages U.S. pork and beef have to offer.”
